BIOGRAPHY

I started playing music at the age of 5, originally taking up guitar, which I still enjoy playing today!

It wasn’t until the age of 8 that I started to play the drums. After two years of school lessons and playing at open mic nights I got the opportunity to form a band. We played pubs and clubs all over the UK for the next 4 years, writing our own songs, as well as playing covers.

At the point where the band decided to fold and do different things I became interested in a much wider variety of music and realised how much more there was to learn. I started listening to all kinds of music; soul, jazz, blues, rock, musical theatre. Along the way discovering lots of the greats like Steve Gadd, Jeff Pocaro, Bernard Perdie, Rick Marrota, James Gaddson, Elvin Jones, Tony Williams and many more. It was at the age of 15 I started taking lessons with Bob Armstrong. Bob opened my eyes to what is possible and gave me a foundation to build on, allowing me to be musical and adapt to as many different settings as possible.

I’ve now been working as a professional musician for over 10 years, continuing to study the greats and develop my craft. This has taken me all over the world and allowed me to play with some incredible musicians which I am extremely grateful for. Right now I currently hold the chair in one of the UK’s most exciting show bands, Gatsby. I also regularly appear at the clubs in London and around the UK playing in all kinds of settings… jazz/big band/rock/pop/irish/blues/r&b etc.

I feel so passionate about music and the way we can communicate through it - we’re all in this together!
